We have had a number of queries from patients asking if their dental appointments will go ahead following on from the PM’s announcement regarding the second lockdown. Please be reassured that we will remain open and will continue to treat patients.
Even before Covid-19, UK dentistry was arguably the safest in the world, with high levels of regulation. All dental practices have to register with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and are regularly inspected.
Since reopening in June, here at Wellsway Dental Practice we have introduced further safety measures in response to the pandemic in line with government guidance, including additional PPE, temperature checks on entering the building, and social distancing. A summary of these measures can be found here.
In addition, you may notice new equipment in surgeries such as our new HEPA air purification machines. These filter and remove any harmful particulates from the whole surgery within 5 minutes. We have also invested in cold fogging disinfectant machines to further enhance safety at the Practice. This process generates a cloud of extremely small droplets of a disinfectant liquid to significantly reduce the number of pathogens both on surfaces and in the air. The droplets can settle underneath, on top of and on the sides of many objects and inaccessible areas that may be difficult or not possible to reach using conventional cleaning methods. These are not prescribed requirements, but an example of how Wellsway Dental Practice is exceeding strict infection control guidelines to keep both patients and staff safe.
We would like to reassure our patients that whilst we continue to provide the very best dental care, their safety will continue to be our top priority as we adjust to this new normal.
